For over 50 years, the ministry of Teen Challenge has been a beacon of hope, transforming the lives of drug addicts and alcoholics worldwide. From New York City, Teen Challenge spread across America, where there are now more than 200 centers. Today there is a network of Teen Challenge centers in 80 countries around the world. We felt it was time to include the Philippines to that ever-growing list of countries.
It’s estimated that as many as 60,000 young men in the Philippines are dealing with drug addiction. In fact, the Philippines is quickly becoming a main avenue for drug trafficking & the culture is escalating into a raging epidemic of drug addiction. Government efforts to provide recovery continue to prove fruitless, which has given Teen Challenge an opportunity to provide true change & transformation in the Philippines.
On February 3rd of this year, the local government of Valenzuela partnered together with Teen Challenge in an effort to curb juvenile delinquency and open a center for these young boys. The memorandum of agreement was signed by Mayor Sherwin Gatchalian & representatives of Teen Challenge in the presence of other city and police officials. “The only solution to our problems is to provide sustainable activities geared toward restoring the dignity and self-respect of these youth,” Gatchalian said
