Teen Challenge NorWestCal Nevada’s sound fiscal management practices and commitment to accountability and transparency has earned them a 4-star rating from Charity Navigator, America’s largest independent charity evaluator.
“Teen Challenge NorWestCal Nevada’s coveted 4-star rating puts them in a very select group of high-performing charities,” according to Michael Thatcher, President & CEO of Charity Navigator. “Out of the thousands of nonprofits Charity Navigator evaluates, only one out of four earns 4 stars — a rating that demands rigor, responsibility and commitment to openness. Teen Challenge NorWestCal Nevada’s supporters should feel much more confident that their hard-earned dollars are being used efficiently and responsibly when it acquires such a high rating.”
Since 2002, using objective, data-driven analysis, Charity Navigator has awarded only the most fiscally responsible organizations a 4-star rating. In 2011, Charity Navigator added seventeen metrics to its rating methodology that focus on governance, ethical practices, and openness. These “accountability and transparency” metrics, which account for fifty percent of a charity’s overall rating, reveal which charities have “best practices.” In an effort to minimize unethical activities , these metrics measure the transparency of an organization when communicating with donors and other stakeholders.
“It is important that our donors trust that we are using our funding wisely to accomplish our mission to provide successful recovery for men, women, teens, children, and families who are struggling with life-controlling problems such as drug and alcohol addiction,” says Dr. Randy Rowe, CEO of Teen Challenge NorWestCal Nevada. “Our 4-star Charity Navigator rating demonstrates to our supporters that we take our fiduciary and governance responsibilities very seriously.”
